Reverand Andrea Raynor: “The Voice That Calls You Home”

Moving past the darkness

I’ve begun my own book project that has taken on a life of its own. (That is why if you frequently visit my blog, you notice I have been MIA). I just completed the first few chapters and sent the rough draft to a friend to critique. We’ve been corresponding back and forth by email but during one of our phone conversations she told me to check out a new book by an author she knows. Even though our stories and the content for our books are very different, she thought we both were pulling from a common thread. Being a successful PR rep in Cincinnati who knows everyone, she mentioned that she’d like to introduce us as well because we both told her the same thing about our motivation to write: We both felt our stories were important to share and might help other people.

So I had to Google the author when I got off the phone and read some of the reviews of her book. I’m usually reviewing books for others, but this time I ordered the book to read for myself. I think I could use some inspiration and this author seems to be an expert on the topic of faith and human tenacity.

Her name is Andrea Raynor and her book is “The Voice That Calls You Home”. She served as a chaplain at Ground Zero after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. You can learn more about her by visiting her author’s page at Simon & Schuster.

Her book is a collection of essays drawn from her own life experiences. She knows what it is like to have your faith tested and understands that during life’s darkest hours, it’s challenging to remain hopeful or find peace.

I’m looking forward to reading the book and being introduced to this remarkable woman. I’m sure her message is inspiring and I trust my friend’s opinion ; she felt Andrea Raynor’s book is intelligent, original and moving.
