Tis the season to be jolly? ~ How to bounce back from the holiday blues
It’s in the air. That special feeling that only comes from the holiday season; where most people are shopping, the Fed Ex or UPS man has become your newest pal, Uncle Joe is once again tangled in holiday lights and cursing while an old Andy Williams CD plays in the background, Grandma is baking in the kitchen…you know the drill. But honestly, if I see one more Diamond commercial showing a beautiful woman beaming from the brilliance of that trinket hidden in that Kay box, I think I’ll scream.
Scrooge is my middle name?
Nope and I’m not the Grinch either. But not everyone can enjoy this time of year. Some of us are feeling the stress of the upcoming “giving” season; still unemployed or underemployed. Some of us are missing family because they live so far away, or worse, they’ve been sent overseas for active duty in Iraq or Afghanistan. Some of us are divorced and the kids are spending the holiday with the ex. Maybe you’re the type who needs more sun and the dark days of November have gotten you down. Or, are you the one pining in a corner, missing your mistletoe partner of last season, sad because this year he’s cuddling with a new snow bunny?
Whatever it is that’s causing you sadness or preventing you from experiencing the “joy” that Macy’s advertises, there is hope. But it’s up to you on how you want to spend the season; making the best of it or copying Ebeneezer Scrooge. I hope you’ll make the best of it.
Where’s my miracle on 42nd street?
Unless you’re still a five year old dreaming of sugar canes and listening for Santa’s sleigh bells, chances are you’ve learned holidays aren’t like the movies. But even if you can’t feel the magic like you did when you were a kid, you can find reason to smile if you adjust your mindset and open your heart.
You are worth it; so give it a try.
I’m not an expert on how to beat the blues, but below you’ll find some links to articles that I thought were helpful and I’m hoping you’ll find them helpful too.
- CBS Interactive Business Network: HOW TO BEAT THE HOLIDAY BLUES
You may not want to jingle any bells this December, but try to hum along to the tune everyone else is singing…
You never know…
It might just bring back that old holiday feeling and remind you it still can be a wonderful life….
If YOU make it one!

Very interesting site. I am happy that I found. I’ll come back and read more. I put the site in my blog roll. Many articles have issues similar to those of my website, entitled “Age in control!” (rough translation). Good luck continued at Augustin Morariu, Romania.
