Let go of the Past ….Move On…
Celebrate New Beginnings
Rascal Flatts “I’m Moving On”
I’ve dealt with my ghosts and I’ve faced all my demons
Finally content with a past I regret
I’ve found you find strength in your moments of weakness
For once I’m at peace with myself
I’ve been burdened with blame, trapped in the past for too long
I’m movin’ on
Change
Time doesn’t stop for anyone. One day, the reflection in the bathroom mirror reminds you of your mother. Where did the cute twenty year old, noticing a blemish, before her Sat night date go? She doesn’t stare back at you. Time.
Relationships change. Partners walk in and they walk away. Maybe they stay for a while and we walk away. Friends support us. Friends desert us. Friends move away or move closer to us.
Time and people and change; you can’t stop it. Life is change. In a split second, a twister destroys everything you’ve worked your whole life for; a car accident takes your family; a boss lets you go and you lose your career, your house, your savings and retirement. Change. Like everything else in life, it will change.
Think like a mountain climber.
Life is a mountain of change. We’re all climbing the same mountain, but we carry different “stuff” in our back packs.
We all have baggage but some of us can hide it better than others. Don’t be fooled. When you’re mountain climbing, it doesn’t matter who you are; rich, poor, famous or invisible; all the backpacks are heavy. We choose different paths, but the climb is the same. We all have moments of feeling tired and weak.
That’s when you need to slow down and rest under a tree. Drink some water. As you rest, you’ll notice thousands of climbers walking past you. Some look happy and seem to leap as fast as a deer, while others look more tired than you. You thought you were alone on the mountain, but you never were. Maybe you were too busy looking down. You were worried about falling or tripping. Rocks, sticks, all types of obstacles lie in everyone’s path, but never forget to look up. When you mountain climb, remember to stop every once in a while and look up. You’ll see the sky is slowly changing and it looks like the storm will pass. If you only look down, you won’t see that it’s changing. You’ll miss something beautiful because you’re too busy trying to avoid all the rocks in you’re way.
Stop being afraid of falling. Don’t you know we all trip and fall? It will teach you; so don’t be afraid. Just learn from it so the next time you hit the same obstacle, you will approach it differently. Expert Climbers know better than to stay on the ground. You get up. What good is staying on the ground? You’ll stay stuck. Don’t be too proud to ask another mountain climber for help
or maybe you have to admit, that it’s time to board the gondola. That doesn’t mean you failed. You chose a different way to reach the top. In that case, you succeeded. We all need a lift from time to time when our bags are too heavy to carry alone. No shame in that.
It’s you’re choice. Stay stuck or climb? Where will you go if you stay on the ground? What will you see when you reach the top?
Please keep climbing. Move on. Climbing is hard and it can get tedious. When you’re tired, you feel like you won’t make it. You keep saying you can’t take another step. Stop that kind of thinking because it slows you down and that won’t help you. Didn’t your kindergarten teacher read to you The Little Engine That Could? ” I think I can , I think I can , up the mountain…”
That’s when you know you’ve reached the DARK SOUL OF NIGHT
Fast Tube by Casper
That’s the scariest part of the climb because it’s the darkest part of the mountain. It’s normal to feel afraid. Look up at the sky and even if you can’t see it because it’s covered by all the darkness you know in your heart it’s there. This part of the climb is the hardest. You’ll question yourself and all your decisions, you’ll regret some of the falls, you might think it’s not worth the effort, but wait a minute!
You’re looking down again. Look up, do I have to keep saying it?
Don’t doubt yourself as a mountain climber. Don’t regret climbing the mountain, you didn’t have a choice; none of us do. We only choose how to get to the top, what we bring and what we leave behind.
If you feel like crying go ahead. Let it out. You might feel better. But after the tears have stained your cheeks, remember to dry them. There’s a handkerchief in your back pack. Don’t forget what you have inside your backpack. You have a lot more than you think. Remind yourself how you prepared, how smart you are, how you’ll end up okay. Be your own best friend if you feel all alone. This is the time to purify; reflect, re-strategize, forgive your self for mistakes. But don’t accept the darkness. Keep looking for light. It’s around the corner. Listen to the wind. It’s been blowing but you’ve been ignoring it.
You have been resisting the wind that is trying to move you. Why? Are you afraid of a new direction? Did you ever consider that maybe this path would be better for you in the long run? It could look like the wrong trail, but believe in the wind, nature and your compass. More opportunities are hidden along the new trail, but trust in your ability to find them or better yet; create them. Slow down to enjoy the scenery. Are you looking up?
Maybe you need to gather your courage and let the wind guide you. Look up at the sky when you’re scared but keep climbing. Hold on. You’re almost there. You’ve tried that old path and it got you no where. You’ve been walking in circles, too stubborn to notice that the wind is steering you. Don’t fight it now. It’s time to surrender. Accept that the wind has changed and with it you have to change.
Have you ever watched a willow tree during a wind storm? It bends with the wind, but never breaks. Learn to bend. Adjust your back pack and look up to the sky and remember you are not alone. You feel lost, but keep climbing. In time you will find out where you are supposed to be. Get used to a new rhythm. It was yours all along, but you never noticed it before. It was hidden and in the darkness, it appeared. Good always will come out of the dark soul of night. Embrace it.
The shade of the trees might be hiding the beauty, but just because you can’t see it today don’t’ think it isn’t there. It’s waiting for you.
Mountain climbing isn’t supposed to be easy. If it was, who would appreciate the beauty to be discovered at the end of the trail?
Time. Change. There is no way to stop it. It’s always around every corner.
Think like a mountain climber. One step at a time. One step at a time….. You will endure. You will learn how strong you are. With every goodbye you learn. With every ending waits a new beginning. Look forward to new possibilities. Change can bring you more happiness, but you’re too tired and weak to believe me today.
Look up to the sky. Before you know it, you’ll be at the top and you’ll appreciate the struggle because you’ll realize it got you to a better place. It was worth it.
See, Can I say I told you so? You’re there! How does it feel?
Soak in the sun and embrace every minute of light. Don’t take it for granted, because soon it will be time to climb back down. Change is still waiting for you.
But now you know you can face anything; you walked through the dark night of soul and reached the sky. You did it!
Change and time; it’s waiting around the corner.
